Our name, 1849, comes from the great California gold rush era, which actually started in 1848 by the discovery of gold by John Sutter at his sawmill in central California. However, John tried to keep his discovery a secret but by early 1849 word had leaked out and the Great California Gold Rush was on.

We believe the opportunities for an individual (or company) to have a website offers exciting growth and unlimited revenue potential - very much like the Great Gold Rush era that took off in 1849, as thousands headed west to California to stake their claims!
